Soft Sculpture: Knit and Crochet

Learn to create soft, sculptural forms, based on growth patterns found in nature. During the course of this class, students will learn stitches and techniques to develop form and texture in their work. Experiment with organic structures and yarn or thread! 

Day 1:
* Introduction to knitting and crochet: Shaping by increasing and decreasing.
* Working in the round with double pointed needles, working in the round in crochet.
* Hyperbolic knitting and crochet, sustained increases and decreases.

Day 2:
* Tubes and spheres, I-cords, crochet balls in single crochet.
* Making flat patterns and sewing/finishing.
* Texture and stitch patterns. Seed stitch, ribbing, leaf rubbings, and crochet realism.
* Stuffing, wire, structure, finishing, and installation

Soft Sculpture is appropriate for all skill levels in knitting and crochet. Materials for this class are inexpensive and easy to find. Materials list online. Please bring required materials to class.
